Montezuma Oropendola

Psarocolius montezuma

The Montezuma Oropendola is a striking bird found in the forests of Central America. It is known for its distinctive bright yellow tail feathers and deep chestnut body. These birds are highly social and often form large, noisy colonies in the treetops. They build hanging, basket-like nests from vines and fibers, which can be seen swaying in the breeze. Montezuma Oropendolas are omnivorous, feeding on fruits, insects, and small vertebrates. Their loud, melodious calls can be heard echoing through the forest as they communicate with one another.
