Mosque Swallow, Cecropis senegalensis, is a widespread breeding bird across Africa. It is a swallow of sub-Saharan regions and is especially common in the west. It stays in its range rather than making a migration, though it shifts with the rains to some degree. This species is the largest and heaviest African swallow. It occurs in woodland, open country, and around settlements, and its range extends from southern Mauritania and Senegal eastwards and south to parts of southern Africa.
