Mountain Hawk-Eagle, Nisaetus nipalensis, is a bird of prey in the family Accipitridae and breeds across the Oriental Region from the Himalayas to Taiwan and Japan. It was described by Hodgson in 1836. A notable feature is its feathered tarsus, which places it among the Aquilinae. It is also known as Hodgson’s hawk-eagle, and the name refers to Brian Houghton Hodgson. The species was once included with Spizaetus, but is now placed in Nisaetus alongside other Old World hawk-eagles.
