Mountain Wagtail

Motacilla clara Sharpe, 1908

Mountain Wagtail, Motacilla clara, is a wagtail of the family Motacillidae and breeds widely across Africa. It was described by Sharpe in 1908. It is a slender bird with a long tail, and its upperparts are light bluish grey. The underparts are white, marked by a narrow black band across the breast. The wings are black with white edging and two pale bars on the coverts, while the outer tail feathers are white and the centre of the tail is black. The face is dark, broken by a white eyebrow and eyelid. Juveniles are browner than adults.
