Mourning Babbler, Pellorneum malaccense, is a bird of the Malay Peninsula, Anambas Islands, Sumatra, Banyak and Batu islands, the Riau and Lingga islands, and the northern Natuna Islands. It belongs to the ground babbler family Pellorneidae and was described by Hartlaub in 1844. It is a lowland forest species of the Oriental Region. It was once treated as the same species as the glissando babbler and the leaflitter babbler. It is also known by the former name short-tailed babbler.
