Nesotriccus murinus (Spix, 1825)

Mouse-colored Tyrannulet, Nesotriccus murinus, is a passerine of the Tyrannidae family found from southern Costa Rica and Panama through Colombia, north-east Ecuador, Venezuela, Trinidad, the Guianas and Amazonia to eastern Brazil, Paraguay and north-west Argentina. It is a bird of open to semi-open country, including scrub, deciduous woodland, gallery forest, secondary growth, mangroves, parks and gardens. The sexes are alike. It was described in 1825 by Spix and is now placed in Nesotriccus, having formerly been included in Phaeomyias. It has also been treated as two species, northern and southern mouse-colored tyrannulets.
