Muscovy Duck

The Muscovy Duck (Cairina moschata) is a large, heavy-bodied duck native to Mexico, Central, and South America. It has a distinctive appearance with a bare red face, blackish plumage, and white wing patches. Muscovy Ducks are known for their quiet nature and unique hissing vocalizations. They are adaptable and can be found in a variety of habitats including lakes, ponds, and rivers. Muscovy Ducks are omnivorous, feeding on aquatic plants, insects, and small fish. They are often domesticated for meat and eggs. Despite being widespread, the wild populations are threatened by habitat loss and hunting.
