Musk Duck

Musk Duck, Biziura lobata, is a duck of southern Australia, found in south-west Western Australia, south-west Queensland, southern Victoria, south-east South Australia and Tasmania. It is the only living member of its genus. The name comes from the musky smell it gives off in the breeding season. An extinct New Zealand relative is known only from prehistoric subfossil bones, and was longer than the living bird, with a notably large head.
