Mussau Monarch

Mussau Monarch, Symposiachrus menckei, is a passerine in the Monarchidae family that breeds on Mussau in the St. Matthias Islands of the north-central Bismarck Archipelago. It is found in Papua New Guinea and is restricted to that island group. The bird is also known as the white-breasted monarch, and has been placed in the genus Monarcha in the past before being moved to Symposiachrus in 2009. Its name commemorates Bruno Mencke, who supported the expedition that led to its collection by Oskar Heinroth.
