Narcissus Flycatcher

Ficedula narcissina

The Narcissus Flycatcher is a small passerine bird found in East Asia. The male has striking plumage with a bright orange throat and breast, while the female is more subdued with olive-brown upperparts and yellowish underparts. These birds are known for their distinctive song and agile foraging behavior, often catching insects in mid-air. They prefer dense forests and woodland areas, especially near water sources, where they build cup-shaped nests. The Narcissus Flycatcher is a migratory species, spending the winter in Southeast Asia. While their population is currently stable, habitat loss and deforestation pose potential threats to their future.
