Narrow-tailed Starling, Poeoptera lugubris, is a starling of the African tropical rainforest, breeding from Sierra Leone and Liberia east to western Uganda, eastern and central DR Congo, and northern Angola. It was described by Bonaparte in 1854 and belongs to the family Sturnidae. Its long, narrow tail is a key feature, and the sexes differ in plumage: the male is dark blue, while the female is dark grey with chestnut wing patches that show in flight. It uses the canopy of lowland forest, including secondary growth and forest clearings.
