Negros Scops Owl

Negros Scops Owl, Otus nigrorum, is an owl of the western Philippines, breeding on Negros and Panay in the Oriental Region. It belongs to the Strigidae family and was described by Rand in 1950. It is set apart by a rufous to reddish brown crown, face and nape, and by an unfeathered upper foot. It was once treated as part of the Philippine scops owl, and has also been linked with Everett’s scops owl. It lives in lowland forests and montane forest, including secondary growth.
