Alcedinidae — Kingfishers

New Britain Dwarf Kingfisher, Ceyx sacerdotis, is a kingfisher of the family Alcedinidae found in Australasia on Umboi, New Britain, Lolobau and Watom. It is tied to moist lowland forest in these islands. The species was once treated as part of the variable dwarf kingfisher group, but later work split that complex and raised this bird to full species rank. Its current name was adopted when the former variable dwarf kingfisher was renamed the Moluccan dwarf kingfisher.
