Caprimulgus tristigma

The New Britain Nightjar (Caprimulgus tristigma) is a species of nightjar found in the New Britain island of Papua New Guinea. This bird is known for its cryptic plumage that provides excellent camouflage during the day. It is a nocturnal bird and feeds on flying insects using its wide gape and bristles around the mouth to catch prey. The New Britain Nightjar is a relatively small nightjar with a distinct call that is often heard at dusk and dawn. Due to its limited range and specific habitat requirements, this species is vulnerable to habitat loss and degradation.
