New Guinea Flightless Rail, Megacrex inepta, is a rail of western to eastern New Guinea in Australasia, where it is sparsely distributed. It belongs to the family Rallidae and was described by D'Albertis & Salvadori in 1879. It is the only species in the genus Megacrex, and it has also been placed in Amaurornis or Habroptila, though that treatment is not accepted. Its natural homes are moist lowland forest, mangrove forest and swamp. Habitat loss threatens it.
