Newton's Fiscal (Lanius newtoni) is a medium-sized passerine bird found in the highlands of central Kenya. This striking bird is known for its distinctive black and white plumage, with a bold white stripe across its wings and a black mask around its eyes. It is a highly territorial species, often perching conspicuously on exposed branches or wires, from where it hunts for insects, small birds, and rodents. Newton's Fiscal prefers open grasslands, savannas, and agricultural areas, where it can find suitable perches for hunting and nesting. Despite its relatively limited range, the species is not currently considered to be at immediate risk, with a conservation status of Least Concern according to the IUCN Red List.
