Newton's Parakeet, Psittacula exsul, was an extinct parakeet of Rodrigues in the Indian Ocean, within the Mascarene Islands. It belonged to the Old World parrots and was confined to that island. Its plumage was mainly greyish to slate blue, an unusual pattern in its genus, and both sexes showed a black collar from chin to nape. The male had a red beak rather than a black one, with stronger colouring than the female. It was about 40 centimetres long, and the last known birds were collected in the 1870s.
