Eumyias hyacinthinus
The Nilgiri flycatcher (Eumyias hyacinthinus) is a small, insectivorous bird found in the Western Ghats of southern India. It is characterized by its striking blue plumage, with a white patch on the wings and a distinctive black mask around the eyes. This species is known for its agile flight and melodious song, often heard in the dense, moist evergreen forests it inhabits. The Nilgiri flycatcher primarily feeds on insects and small invertebrates, foraging in the mid to upper levels of the forest canopy. Although not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation pose potential risks to its population.
