Nilgiri Laughingthrush, Montecincla cachinnans, is a bird of the Western Ghats in the Nilgiri Hills of south-west India, where it breeds in the Oriental Region. It is confined to high ground in the Nilgiris and nearby hill ranges in Peninsular India. Its plumage is marked by rufous underparts, olive-brown upperparts, a clear white eyebrow and a black throat, which make it easy to recognise. It is also known for a loud run of nasal calls, though it can be difficult to see when it stays within dense cover.
