Nocturnal Curassow, Nothocrax urumutum, is a bird of western Amazonia in South America, occurring in Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela. It belongs to the Cracidae family and is the only species in its genus. It is the smallest curassow and stands apart from the others by its mainly rufous and chestnut plumage rather than the usual black. It lives in terra firme forest and flooded forest, often on low, gentle ground near blackwater rivers, and is usually found below 850 m, though it has been recorded to about 1,500 m in Ecuador.
