North Island Takahe, Porphyrio mantelli, was a flightless rail of the North Island of New Zealand in Australasia. It is known from subfossil remains found at several sites across the island. Compared with the South Island takahē, it was larger in proportion, but had a smaller beak for its body size and longer leg bones in relation to the tibiotarsus. It is now extinct, and was named for Walter Mantell.
