Northern Black Korhaan

The Northern Black Korhaan, also known as the White-quilled Bustard, is a species of bird found in southern Africa. It is known for its distinctive call, a loud, far-carrying series of notes. This ground-dwelling bird is mainly found in open grasslands, savannas, and semi-desert areas. The male is black with white wing coverts and a long white quill-like plume, while the female is a cryptic brown color. They are known for their impressive courtship displays, which involve aerial flights and calling. The Northern Black Korhaan primarily feeds on insects and seeds. This species is not currently considered to be at risk and is classified as Least Concern by the IUCN.
