Northern Black-throated Trogon, Trogon tenellus, is a trogon of Middle America and north-western South America, breeding from south-eastern Honduras to north-western Colombia. It is a monotypic member of the family Trogonidae. The species was described by Cabanis in 1862. It lives mainly in humid primary forest, and from Costa Rica south it also uses mature secondary forest. Its range runs through the Caribbean and Pacific slopes of Central America into far north-western Colombia, with records from sea level to higher ground in parts of its range.
