Northern Brownbul, Phyllastrephus strepitans, is a songbird of eastern Africa in the bulbul family, Pycnonotidae. It occurs in dry forest, dry savanna and dry shrubland across its range. The species was first placed in the genus Criniger when it was described by Reichenow in 1879. It is also known as the East African scrub bulbul and the northern brown bulbul.
