Mitrephanes phaeocercus (Sclater, PL, 1859)

Northern Tufted Flycatcher, Mitrephanes phaeocercus, is a passerine of the tyrant flycatcher family found in Middle America and South America from western Mexico to north-west Ecuador. It lives in wooded montane country, including pine, pine-oak, evergreen and secondary forest, as well as more open areas and gallery forest, and it often uses edges, gaps and clearings. It is mostly a resident bird, though it makes some elevational movement in Mexico. The sexes are alike, and all subspecies show an upright pointed crest.
