Northern Waterthrush

Parkesia noveboracensis

The Northern Waterthrush is a small migratory songbird found in North and South America. It is known for its distinctive habit of bobbing its tail as it forages for insects and small invertebrates in wet, wooded habitats. This bird has a brownish-olive back, white underparts with streaking, and a white eyebrow stripe. Its song is a loud, musical series of chipping notes. During the breeding season, it can be found in wet, swampy areas with dense undergrowth, while in the winter, it inhabits tropical forests and mangroves. The Northern Waterthrush is not currently considered at risk, and its population is stable.
