Northern White-crowned Shrike, Eurocephalus ruppelli, is a passerine of eastern Africa, breeding from south-eastern South Sudan and central Ethiopia through central Somalia to central Tanzania. It is a shrike of dry thornbush, semi-desert and open acacia woodland. The bird is notable for its white crown and rump, with a black eye-stripe, brown upperparts and wings, and a black tail. Its underparts are white, while the flanks are brown. Young birds differ from adults, and the species shows variation across its range.
