Icterus northropi
The Northrop's Oriole is a small to medium-sized songbird found in the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. It is known for its striking black and yellow plumage, with the male having a black hood and bright yellow body, while the female has a more subdued yellow-green coloration. These orioles are often found in open woodlands, riparian areas, and suburban gardens, where they forage for insects and nectar. They are known for their melodious and flute-like songs, which are often heard during the breeding season. The Northrop's Oriole is not currently considered to be at risk, but habitat loss and climate change may pose future threats to its populations.
