O'Neill's Antpitta

Grallaria oneilli

O'Neill's Antpitta (Grallaria oneilli) is a medium-sized, ground-dwelling bird found in the cloud forests of the Andes in South America. It is known for its distinctive, haunting song that echoes through the dense undergrowth. This species has a mottled brown and gray plumage that provides excellent camouflage among the leaf litter and fallen branches where it forages for insects and small invertebrates. O'Neill's Antpitta is highly territorial and secretive, making it a challenging bird to observe in the wild. Its conservation status is currently listed as Vulnerable due to habitat loss and fragmentation.
