Ochre-bellied Flycatcher

Mionectes oleagineus

The Ochre-bellied Flycatcher is a small, insectivorous bird found in the tropical forests of South America. It is characterized by its olive-green upperparts, yellowish underparts, and a distinctive ochre-colored belly. This species is known for its distinctive call, a sharp 'che-bek' or 'che-burr'. Ochre-bellied Flycatchers are often observed perching in the mid-story or canopy of the forest, sallying out to catch flying insects. They are known to be quite vocal and active during the breeding season. Their nests are cup-shaped and placed in the fork of a tree branch, where the female typically lays two eggs.
