Rhynochetos jubatus

The Okapi, also known as the forest giraffe or zebra giraffe, is a unique and elusive mammal native to the dense tropical rainforests of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is recognized by its striking appearance, with a dark brown body, white horizontal stripes on the legs, and a long neck and head resembling that of a giraffe. The Okapi is a solitary and elusive species, primarily active during the day, and feeds on leaves, buds, and fruits. Due to habitat loss and hunting, the Okapi is classified as Endangered by the IUCN, and conservation efforts are crucial for its survival.
