Muscicapidae — Chats, Old World Flycatchers

Okinawa Robin, Larvivora namiyei, is a passerine in the family Muscicapidae that breeds in the northern part of Okinawa and on Kerama Island in the central Ryukyu Islands of southern Japan. It is endemic to this part of Japan. It was first described by Stejneger in 1887. The bird was once treated as a subspecies of the Ryukyu Robin, Larvivora komadori. It sometimes feeds close to the ground, and invasive predators such as the small Indian mongoose have a harmful effect on it.
