Olive-chested Flycatcher

Myiophobus cryptoxanthus

The Olive-chested Flycatcher (Myiophobus cryptoxanthus) is a small passerine bird found in the Andean cloud forests of South America. It is known for its olive-green upperparts, yellowish chest, and distinctive white eyering. This species is often observed perching in the mid-story of the forest, sallying out to catch insects in flight. Olive-chested Flycatchers are known for their melodious and repetitive song, which can often be heard echoing through the misty cloud forests. They are generally solitary or found in pairs, and are known to be quite territorial during the breeding season. Their nests are often built in the fork of a tree, and they lay 2-3 eggs per clutch.
