Olive-faced Flatbill

Poecilotriccus plumbeiceps

The Olive-faced Flatbill (Poecilotriccus plumbeiceps) is a small, insectivorous bird found in the Amazon Basin of South America. It has a distinctive olive-green face and crown, with a grayish plumage on the upperparts and a pale yellowish underbelly. This species is known for its distinctive call, a high-pitched, repetitive whistle. Olive-faced Flatbills primarily inhabit the understory of tropical rainforests, where they forage for insects and small invertebrates. They are often encountered in mixed-species flocks, actively moving through dense vegetation in search of prey. Despite being relatively common within its range, the Olive-faced Flatbill faces potential threats from habitat loss and fragmentation.
