Fraseria ocreata
The Olive-sided Flycatcher is a medium-sized songbird known for its distinctive "quick-three-beers" call. It has a brownish-olive back, pale underparts, and a white throat with a dark bib. This bird is often found perched on the tops of dead trees or snags, from where it sallies out to catch flying insects. It breeds in open coniferous or mixed woodlands across North America and winters in South America. The species is known for its strong, direct flight and its preference for open areas near water. Olive-sided Flycatchers are also known for their role as ecological indicators, as their populations are sensitive to habitat changes.
