Olive-throated Parakeet, Eupsittula nana, is a parrot of Mexico to western Panama and Jamaica, with breeding populations in Jamaica and on the mainland. It belongs to the family Psittacidae and was described by Vigors in 1830. The species is split into three subspecies, with the Jamaican form as the nominate race. It lives mainly in deciduous woodland, but also uses forest edges, riparian areas, scrub, plantations, clearings with trees and gardens. In all parts of its range it nests in cavities, usually in termitaria that it excavates itself.
