Strix butleri (Hume, 1878)
Omani Owl, Strix butleri, is an owl of the Palearctic breeding in montane north-eastern UAE, northern Oman, and patchily in southern and eastern Iran. It was described by Hume in 1878. It is associated with shrubland and rocky ground, and has been observed on high rocky cliffs. The species was first recognised from Oman in 2013, and later work showed that it matches the earlier name Strix butleri rather than the similar owl once treated separately.
