Opal-rumped Tanager, Tangara velia, is a bird of South America, breeding in Amazonia and south-east Brazil. It belongs to the tanager family and is found in the Amazon and Atlantic Forest. The Atlantic Forest birds have a much paler chest than other populations, and this form has often been treated as a separate species, the silvery-breasted tanager, though most authorities now place it as a subspecies of Opal-rumped Tanager. Four subspecies are recognised, covering the Guianas, north Brazil, east Brazil, west Amazonia and north-east Brazil.
