Orange-bellied Trogon

Trogon aurantiiventris

Orange-bellied Trogon, Trogon aurantiiventris, occurs in the montane forests of Costa Rica and Panama, including the Talamancan range. It is now usually treated as a form of the collared trogon, though it was once regarded as a separate species. Its key feature is the orange belly, which sets it apart from the collared trogon. It also uses moist montane forest and heavily degraded former forest. The male has green upperparts and breast, with a white line dividing the breast from the underparts, while the female shows brown upperparts and breast and a less distinctly barred undertail.
