Orange-breasted Waxbill, Amandava subflava, is a bird of grassland and savannah across Africa and the south-west Arabian Peninsula. It belongs to the waxbill family and was described by Vieillot in 1819. It is also called the zebra waxbill. The species has an orange breast, a red bill and a reddish iris, with dark olive-green plumage. Males show a red rump, dark bars on the pale flanks and a scarlet eyebrow stripe, while females are plainer, smaller and lack the male’s red eyebrow.
