Orange-fronted Fruit Dove

Ptilinopus aurantiifrons

The Orange-fronted Fruit Dove, also known as the Flame-breasted Fruit Dove, is a species of bird found in the forests of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. It is characterized by its vibrant orange forehead and chest, contrasting with its green back and wings. This medium-sized dove primarily feeds on fruits and plays a vital role in seed dispersal within its habitat. It is often observed in the canopy of lowland rainforests, where it can be quite secretive and difficult to spot. Due to habitat loss and hunting, the Orange-fronted Fruit Dove faces conservation concerns in certain parts of its range.
