Zosteropidae — White-eyes

Orange River White-eye, Zosterops pallidus, is a passerine of the family Zosteropidae found in Namibia and western and central South Africa, with local breeding along the Orange River. It is most numerous in the Orange and Vaal river catchments, and also occurs in scattered places across the Nama Karoo, Namaqualand, the Namib, the Namibian escarpment, Damaraland and far northern mopane-veld. In drier country it stays close to vegetation along streambeds that run only part of the year. It also uses gardens, parks and plantations, and was described by Swainson in 1838.
