Piranga lutea
The Orange Tanager (Piranga lutea) is a small to medium-sized songbird found in the forests of Central and South America. This species is known for its vibrant orange plumage, which is more intense in males than females. It has a distinctive black mask around its eyes and a slightly curved bill. Orange Tanagers are often found foraging for insects and fruits in the canopy of humid forests, where they are known for their melodious songs. They are generally solitary or found in pairs during the breeding season. Although not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation pose potential risks to their populations.
