Orange thrush

Turdus aurantius

The Orange thrush (Turdus aurantius) is a medium-sized songbird found in the forests and woodlands of South America. It is known for its striking orange plumage, with a black bill and legs. This species is primarily insectivorous, foraging for insects, worms, and small fruits in the understory and forest floor. The Orange thrush is known for its melodious and varied song, often heard during the breeding season. It builds cup-shaped nests in dense vegetation, where it lays and incubates its eggs. Although not currently classified by the IUCN, the Orange thrush may face habitat loss and fragmentation due to deforestation and human encroachment.
