Orange Weaver, Ploceus aurantius, is a bird of western and central Africa, breeding across the region and living in tropical rainforest, mangroves, thickets and swamps, including coastal lagoons and the banks of major West African rivers. It is a member of the weaver family, Ploceidae, and was described by Vieillot in 1805. The species is found in two subspecies, one ranging from Sierra Leone to the Democratic Republic of the Congo and south to Angola, and the other in Uganda, western Kenya and north-western Tanzania.
