Orange-winged Amazon

Amazona amazonica

The Orange-winged Amazon is a medium-sized parrot native to the northern regions of South America. These social and intelligent birds are known for their striking green plumage, with vibrant orange and yellow patches on their wings. They are often found in flocks, displaying strong family bonds and engaging in vocal communication. Their diet primarily consists of fruits, seeds, and nuts. Orange-winged Amazons inhabit a variety of forested habitats, including tropical rainforests, woodlands, and savannas. Unfortunately, habitat loss and capture for the pet trade have led to population declines, resulting in their classification as Near Threatened by the IUCN.
