Orinoco Piculet, Picumnus pumilus, is a woodpecker of north-west Amazonia in South America, recorded from eastern Colombia and north-western Brazil, with southern Venezuela also mentioned in some accounts. It was described by Cabanis and Heine in 1863. The bird is a small piculet with a dark brown crown in the male, marked by yellow on the forehead and paler spots elsewhere, while the female shows whitish spotting across the crown. It lives along the margins of humid mature forest and gallery forest, as well as in thick scrub.
