Myioborus pariae
The Páramo Whitestart (Myioborus pariae) is a small, insectivorous bird found in the high-altitude páramo ecosystems of the Andes mountains in Venezuela and Colombia. It is characterized by its striking black and white plumage, with a bright yellow patch on its back. These agile birds forage for insects and spiders in the dense undergrowth, often flicking their wings and tail while moving. They are known for their high-pitched, melodious songs that echo through the misty páramo. Páramo Whitestarts are highly adapted to the cold and wet conditions of their habitat, utilizing their thick plumage for insulation. Due to the limited range and specialized habitat requirements, they are vulnerable to habitat loss and climate change.
