Pacific Elaenia

Pacific Elaenia, Myiopagis subplacens, is a tyrant flycatcher of western Ecuador and north-west Peru, where it occurs in the Pacific lowlands and foothills. It was first placed in Elaenia before being transferred to Myiopagis, and it is the only member of its kind. In its range it uses rather dry to semi-humid deciduous forest, secondary growth near older woodland, and tall scrub. It is recorded from sea level up to 1,700 m in Ecuador and 1,800 m in Peru, and is thought to remain in the same area throughout the year.
