Pacific Reef Heron, Egretta sacra, is a heron of coastal southern Asia and Oceania, breeding from coastal south Bangladesh and the Andaman Islands to the Ryukyu Islands, across Australasia, Melanesia and on to the Tuamotu Archipelago. It is known for two plumage forms, one slaty grey and the other pure white, with no difference between the sexes in appearance. The species was first described in 1789 by Gmelin and is placed in the family Ardeidae within the order Pelecaniformes.
